Neon for autum

I really hope neon accents still will be in this autumn. I'm still in love with neon! Or will it just be the same old boring autumn colors?

Granny coin purse

I made a bunch of new things for the craft fair in May (yeah I know almost two months ago)... A few new styles and designs. It was a hassle to get the purse frames for these but when I finally had them in my hands this is what I came up with.

Once again. Perfect use for scarp yarn and even fabric. This one is lined with white blue checked vintage fabric. Still available in my shop :)

Wrap around baby boots

A close friend of mine gave birth to a little baby girl a while ago. Although I make my own patterns and have a hard time following patterns written by others I like to try out new patterns occasionally. Just because it sometimes is so much easier to just read and crochet. Clothes for babies are fun to make too since they are pretty fast to make.

I made these cute wrap around boots according to a free pattern available here. They fit perfectly and the wrap around design is great since it stays on much better that way.

Crocheted Christmas Ornaments Baubles - Free pattern

Super easy and fast crocheted baubles.Great way to use that ever accumulating scrap yarn.

You'll need:

*compressed cotton balls or polystyrene balls 5cm in size.

*yarn scarps

*3mm crochet hook.

Color patterns and changes are not written in the pattern.

  

Ch 2

Rnd 1: sc 6 in second ch from hook (6sts)

Rnd 2: 2sc in each st around (12sts)

Rnd 3: *sc 1, 2 sc in next st* repeat around (18sts)

Rnd 4: *sc 2, 2 sc in next st* repeat around (24sts) 

Rnd 5: *sc 3, 2 sc in next st* repeat around (30sts)

Rnd 6-11: sc30 (30sts)

Rnd 12: *dec 1, sc 3* repeat around (24sts)

Insert your polystyrene ball at this point.

Rnd 13: *dec 1, sc 2* repeat around (18sts)

Rnd 14: *dec 1, sc 1* repeat around (12sts)

Rnd 15: *dec 1* repeat around (6sts)

Sew the hole shut, weave in ends and attach yarn to hang the bauble in.

Work in progress: colorful

Using up some colorful cotton scrap yarns. They tend to accumulate if not used...

Any guesses what this is?

Most of the yarn here is Rico creative cotton that I ordered from the UK a couple of years ago. The yarn is nice and chunky and quite cheap. It took two months for me to get the yarn though! So not ordering from the same place again. Not naming any names either. Kind of crappy customer service to be honest...

The big hook

A while ago I bought this chunky cotton string. Excess from the textile industry. And a big hook. Size 12mm to be more exact.  Going to be a doily rug. It is hard work. Little by little growing bigger.

Pink AND glitter

Normally I'm not the pink, glitter, girly kind. But at my last visit in the yarn shop I found this yarn. Pink AND glitter! How cute is that? I could not resist. So I bough one skein in pink and one in green. I've started a hat with the pink yarn. Not sure if I like it or not. Maybe it would be better as a cowl? We'll see. Might start all over with something else.

Oh and the name of the yarn is Silver Dream. Acrylic yarn. The soft kind not the kind that feels like plastic and have a sound when you crochet with it.

Just added these two my Etsy shop. Both are crocheted in eco cotton. Trying to get rid of scrap yarn.

I'd love to buy new chunky yarn to work with for winter season but really I have so much yarn that I need to work with what I have. Kind of challenging but fun in that way that there will only be one available of most items.

I'm back

kind of at least. I've been working like crazy for a craft fair. Didn't even have time to announce it here. Anyhow I participated in a craft fair "Design Myyjäiset" in Turku. I didn't really know what to expect because it was my first big fair. There was a lot of people but it started raining when it was three hours left. It was fun but not a huge success because the fee was much much higher than I'm used to at the smaller fairs. It was fun and it is always nice to meet customers face to face. Unfortunately I left my camera at home so no pictures. I have a lot of things to add to my shops now and to blog about. 

I've been knitting cowls and snoods. Here is a new long design. Love the pictures if I may say so myself. My fiancé is the photographer though.

 

A month of craft photos: 06. Color (& my weekend)

We have had a super lazy weekend. It has been foggy and gray outside so I've stayed inside crocheting, watching movies and studying. This weekend I've been using some of my cotton scrap yarn for buntings. Todays theme on a month of craft photos is color and the buntings I've made are quite colorful. I especially love all those springy pastel colors right now...

My granny square blanket

In January 2011 I started my granny square blanket project. I wanted to make it from scrap yarn and yarn bought at flea markets. At the time I studied and lived in another city and traveled home every weekend. A 6hour train ride one way so I had a lot of time to crochet. So after 6 months of 12 hour train rides every weekend (+ a lot of crocheting in the evenings) I finished my blanket. In August I crocheted the border and my biggest project ever was finished! It is 15*17 squares big which is about 170*200cm. A total of 255squares. It is big enough for two! Completely made from scrap yarn and yarn from flea markets. The white yarn is new though because obviously I wanted to be the same hue of white.

Easter around the corner

Starting to prepare for easter by making a bunch of egg cozies... It feels kind of odd to think about spring and easter right now when we have a terrible blizzard here!
